Pittenger to run for Lt. Governor

It's definite. From WBT, this afternoon:

CHARLOTTE, 11.29.2007
JIM BARROLL

State Senator Robert Pittenger, a Mecklenburg Republican, says he won't seek a 4th term in the state Senate and will instead be running for Lt. Governor.

Pittenger notes that Democrats currently hold all the top positions in state government and a lot of needs aren't being met.

"It's very difficult for us to get our reform issues or any other considerations," he said. "By winning the Lieutenant Governor, we're able to say 'wait a minute' here's another way we can go."

Pittenger is endorsing former State Senator Bob Rucho as his replacement.

Dr. Rucho is among the Plaintiffs of the recently
filed federal redistricting lawsuit,
Dean, et.al. v. Leake, et.al.
